Trinamool Congress delegation reaches Poonch

Rajouri, May 22: A delegation of All India Trinamool Congress arrived in Rajouri to take stock of situation after recent shelling.

The delegation members also  raised concerns on poor health infrastructure and failure of government to evacuate and shift civil population timely.  The delegation visited Surankote, Poonch areas and met with locals expressing their concern towards loss suffered by civil population of the area.

This delegation comprises of Derek O’Brien, MP and Parliamentary Party Leader, Rajya Sabha, Mohammad Nadimul Haque, Chief Whip, Rajya Sabha, Manas Ranjan Bhunia, Minister Government of West Bengal, Sagarika Ghose, Deputy Leader, Rajya Sabha, and Mamata Thakur, MP, Rajya Sabha.

Sharing details of visit, Sagarika Ghose said that the aim of visit of this delegation is first hand information through real people and to feel the pain which local population of border areas has suffered.

The leader expressed concern over some government actions towards the situation stating that the civil population of affected areas was not evacuated timely while no advanced arrangements for their shifting were made.

She also raised concern towards poor healthcare sector in border district Poonch stating that there is no ventilator facility in District Hospital Poonch while various other advanced required healthcare facilities were missing in the hospital.

“We are here to highlight the pain suffered by civil population in cross border shelling by Pakistan which has not been shown on national media and everyone is silent about it,” Ghose further said.
