Srinagar, Nov 15: Ujala Cygnus–Amandeep BR Hospital, Srinagar, expressed profound grief over the tragic incident that took place last night at the Nowgam Police Station. It said that upon receiving the alert, the hospital immediately activated its Mass Casualty Emergency Protocol to deal with the injured.

In a statement issued, it said that immediately upon receiving the alert, Ujala Cygnus–Amandeep BR Hospital, Srinagar, activated its Mass Casualty Emergency Protocol. Under the direct leadership of Dr. Parvez Sofi, Managing Director, emergency, trauma, surgical, orthopaedic, anaesthesia, and intensive care teams were mobilized within minutes.

Through coordinated efforts with police authorities and first responders, 22 injured personnel were transported to the hospital. All patients underwent structured triage and received rapid, life-saving interventions as per Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) guidelines.

The statement said that all 22 admitted patients are currently stable.

Three police personnel, who sustained significant trauma, remain in the ICU under close monitoring and multidisciplinary management, with encouraging signs of recovery, while as the remaining patients are receiving comprehensive care across orthopaedics, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine units, statement reads.

Dedicated counselling and family-support teams are stationed at the hospital to assist relatives.

Reflecting the organisation’s deep commitment to service in crisis situations, Dr. Parvez Sofi, Managing Director, personally directed the emergency response, ensured seamless clinical coordination, and led the multidisciplinary efforts throughout the night.

It said that Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Founder Director, Amandeep BR Hospitals, travelled to Srinagar immediately upon learning about the incident. She reviewed all emergency preparedness measures, met with the trauma and ICU teams, reinforced resource availability, and ensured optimal clinical support.

Dr. Ubaid Hamid, Regional Director (J&K), was present on-site to supervise operational readiness, patient flow management, and cross-functional coordination.

Amandeep BR Medicity and other units within the Amandeep BR network remain on standby for any specialist reinforcement, resource deployment, or tertiary-care requirements.

The statement reads the initial reports suggest that the explosion occurred during the forensic examination of seized explosives. A formal investigation by law enforcement authorities is currently underway.

The hospital expressed profound grief over the tragic incident, and extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred police personnel. It said their bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered with the highest respect.
