Jammu, Oct 25: A volleyball tournament under the Civic Action Programme-2025-26, organised by JKAP-8th Bn, was formally kicked off by Commandant JKAP 8th Bn Miran Sahib Jammu on October 24.
The tournament, as per an official statement, aims to strengthen police–public relations and promote sportsmanship among youth.
On 25.10.2025, the matches were played between Army Public School Miran Sahib Jammu vs Government Boys High School Kotli Shah Doula and also between JK Public School Kunjwani vs Mother India Secondary School RS Pura.
The chief organiser of the tournament (Commandant JKAP-8th Bn), while addressing the participants, highlighted the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in developing cardio bonding and bridging the gap between police and public. He emphasised the role of sports in character building and for keeping the youth away from social evils.
Suram Singh, JKPS (SSP) Commandant of JKAP-8th Bn, encouraged the participants to actively participate in such constructive activities and assured them that the Police Department will continue to organise similar events in the future too, under the Civic Action Programme.
Today’s matches were also witnessed by a huge gathering, including the staff members of the teams as well as other respectable personalities, and they appreciated the efforts of JKAP 8th Battalion for providing a platform to engage youth through sports.
The programme was conducted in a cordial and disciplined manner, reflecting the spirit of unity and cooperation between police and public. At the end the players were awarded individual certificates by Bhupinder Singh-DySP JKAP-8th Bn.
