Srinagar,  Oct 23: In an inspiring ceremony, YesWeYaa Foundation inaugurated its new chapter, reaffirming its commitment to compassion, education, and child welfare.

The event saw young mission ambassadors being inducted, symbolising the foundation’s belief that children are not merely beneficiaries, but active partners in shaping a compassionate and equitable society, said a press release.

The ceremony was graced by Chairman Masood Wafai, Director Syed M. M. Shah, and Public Relations Officer Er. Danish Reshi, along with its advisory commitee members  including Prof. G. M. Untoo, Er. Hashmat Qazi, Mutaharra Abida Waheed Deva, Prof. Gurmeet Kaur, and Zahoor Ahmed Mir.

The Foundation also acknowledged the invaluable support and good wishes from Naseema Lanker (IAS), Gous-ul-Nisa Jeelani (Former Principal and District Judge), Dr. Ashok Aima (Former Vice Chancellor, CUJ), and Dr. Umer Javed Shah (Former Director, SKIMS), who could not attend due to unavoidable circumstances they conveyed their best wishes and steadfast commitment to the mission.

The event began with the unveiling of the Foundation’s new initiative focusing on educational empowerment and emotional well-being of children facing adversity. The unveiling was led by the newly inducted young mission ambassadors, whose words were filled with innocence and resolve which deeply moved the audience, embodying the spirit of resilience that the Foundation seeks to nurture.

“This is not just a launch — it’s a pledge,” said Chairman Masood Wafai. “Together with our partners and communities, we aim to build a support system rooted in empathy, integrity, and shared responsibility.”

“We want every child to dream again — like we do now,” expressed Young Mission Ambassadors Sarah Wafai and Ifrah Wahid, capturing the emotional essence of the movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Er. Hashmat Qazi congratulated everyone and emphasized the need for regular meetings to ensure the sustained success of YesWeYaa. Mutaharra Abida Waheed Deva highlighted the importance of working with accurate data and urged the Foundation to collaborate with the business community to access CSR funds. Prof. G. M. Untoo stressed that children must be guided through discipline and counselling, while Prof. Gurmeet Kaur raised an important question about identifying children in need. Responding to her, Chairman Wafai explained the community-driven digital platform developed by YesWeYaa for identification and verification.

Director Syed M. M. Shah shared how the idea of YesWeYaa was born and expressed confidence that “Insha’Allah, YesWeYaa will soon become a household name with the support of the entire community.” Zahoor Ahmed Mir called it “a wonderful community-based initiative” and assured his full collaboration in every possible way.

The event concluded with PRO Er. Danish Reshi extending heartfelt thanks to all attendees and well-wishers, appreciating their presence and continued encouragement toward the Foundation’s mission of ensuring that no child’s education or dream is lost to hardship.
