Srinagar, Mar 10: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday forecast generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher reaches across Jammu and Kashmir on March 10 and 11.
An official from the MeT department said several higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts may receive moderate snowfall during the period. However, the weather is expected to remain generally dry from March 12 to 14 across the Union Territory.
The department further said that cloudy conditions may prevail on March 15 and 16 with a spell of light rain or snowfall in higher reaches at scattered places towards the night of March 15 and morning of March 16. Similar weather conditions are likely on March 17 and 18, while on March 19 and 20, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with the possibility of light rain at a few places.
Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued an advisory warning of temporary traffic disruptions over higher reaches and important passes of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts. Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations during March 10 and 11. The department also warned of the possibility of thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph at a few places between March 9 and 11. (KNC)
