K. Vijay Kumar, a distinguished IPS officer and former Director General of the CRPF, will be honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to public affairs, internal security and counter-terrorism operations in India.
Vijay Kumar is widely known for leading several key anti-Naxal and anti-terror operations, including the successful mission against forest brigand Veerappan.
During his long career, he played a major role in strengthening police training, modernising security forces and improving operational strategies across the country.
He served in several top positions in the IPS, Special Protection Group (SPG), Border Security Force (BSF), CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir security administration, earning recognition for his contribution to national security and public safety.
K Vijay Kumar is one of the officers who served extensively in Kashmir, both as IG BSF and CRPF chief, is very well respected and remembered by the Kashmir population.
