Anantnag, June 07: As part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan’ compaign against the menace of drug trafficking in the Union Terrritory, Anantnag Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in the Bijbehara area of the district, police officials said on Sunday.
In a press statement, a police spokesperson said that a police party from Police Station Bijbehara, while conducting routine naka checking at Tarbal Guree, intercepted and apprehended one individual identified as Zahid Ali Dar, son of Ali Mohammad Dar, resident of Guree Bijbehara. During his search, 113 grams of charas sticks were recovered from his possession.
“In this connection, Case FIR No. 152/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband substance,” the spokesperson said.
Anantnag Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace from society and urges the general public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling and substance abuse in their respective areas, he added.
