Poonch, June 7: A devastating fire broke out in the Bufliaz area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district early on Saturday morning, reducing 13 shops to ashes.
According to police, the fire originated in one of the shops due to an electrical short circuit and quickly spread through the market, engulfing 13 shops. Although local residents, Army personnel, police, and Fire & Emergency Services staff made efforts to control the blaze, the fire was so intense that it completely destroyed the shops.
Local residents alleged that the Fire & Emergency Services vehicle reached the spot late, resulting in losses worth crores of rupees for the shop owners.
SHO Surankote, Syed Abid Bukhari, said that 13 shops were completely gutted in the devastating fire incident. He added that preliminary investigations indicate that the blaze was caused by a short circuit.
He further said that the administration stands with the affected families and that all possible assistance will be provided to them.
