Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shobha Karandlaje is leading the Indian delegation at the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) being held in Geneva, Switzerland.
On June 11, Karandlaje participated in the Coordination Group Meeting of the Global Coalition for Social Justice (GCSJ), held on the sidelines of the conference.
During the meeting, she held discussions with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and labour ministers from Bangladesh, Moldova, Brazil and Switzerland, besides the Vice Minister of Belgium and other international partners.
The Global Coalition for Social Justice, launched by the ILO in 2023, aims to strengthen international cooperation and translate commitments on social justice into concrete action through collaboration among governments, employers, workers and other stakeholders. India reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the ILO and member countries to advance the coalition’s objectives.
According to an official statement, India will continue to contribute actively to the coalition’s future work by promoting inclusive growth, strengthening social protection systems, encouraging responsible business practices and supporting international cooperation for fair and resilient labour markets.
