Iran says US response to its 7 conditions for ending war ‘insufficient’

Tehran, Oct 12: Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei said that the US had accepted some of Tehran’s seven conditions for ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but its response was “insufficient”, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency.

“We announced seven conditions to the Americans: if you do not implement these conditions, neither will the Strait of Hormuz open to you, nor will there be any negotiations,” Rezaei said in an interview with Press TV.

The conditions reportedly include an end to hostilities on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds, lifting the US naval blockade, an end to American interference in Iran’s internal affairs and a halt to attacks on Iranian territory.

Rezaei said Tehran would not return to earlier diplomatic arrangements, accusing Washington of abandoning a previous agreement and attacking Iran after negotiations. He stressed, however, that Iran had not abandoned diplomacy.

He warned that Iran was prepared to deploy new military capabilities if hostilities resumed and said Tehran would not give up its position on managing the Strait of Hormuz, a key global route for oil and gas shipments.
