Kashmiri writer and poet Dr. Idrees Badrani has been awarded the prestigious Junior Fellowship in Kashmiri Literature by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The fellowship is conferred on distinguished scholars, writers, artists and researchers for their contribution to the preservation, promotion and documentation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
Badrani’s selection is being seen as recognition of his sustained contributions to Kashmiri literature, culture and academic research through his literary works, publications and scholarly engagements.
The fellowship will enable him to undertake research and documentation related to Kashmiri literature and cultural traditions.
Writers, academics and literary organisations across Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed the honour, describing it as a significant achievement for the region’s literary community and a testament to the enduring vitality of Kashmiri language and literature.
