Srinagar, Jun 20: Strengthening its commitment to financial inclusion and last-mile banking connectivity, J&K Bank on Friday commissioned a new Easy Banking Unit (EBU) at Mankote in Sakhimaidan area of Poonch district.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Imran Rashid Kataria, Tehsildar Mankote Maroof Qadri, J&K Bank Zonal Head (Rajouri) Rajeev Kumar Digra, Cluster Head (Poonch) Ashutosh Gupta and other senior bank officials.
With the commissioning of the new unit, the number of Easy Banking Units in the Rajouri Zone, comprising the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, has risen to nine.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Poonch appreciated J&K Bank for extending modern banking infrastructure to the remote region. He said the EBU would provide residents with easier access to essential banking services, including cash deposits, account opening facilities and enrolment under various social security schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
He also emphasised the role of the facility in promoting digital banking and enhancing financial inclusion among the local population.
Addressing the gathering, Zonal Head Rajeev Kumar Digra expressed gratitude to the district administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner, for their support in establishing the facility.
“In line with our commitment to serving our growing customer base with greater efficiency and convenience, the new EBU will strengthen our service delivery framework, expand our outreach and bring banking services closer to every household in the region,” he said.
