JKSA bats for people-to-people contact between India & Pakistan

The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Wednesday backed the resumption of constructive dialogue between India and Pakistan, asserting that lasting peace, regional stability and shared prosperity in South Asia can only be achieved through sustained diplomatic engagement, mutual respect and peaceful dialogue.

While recognizing India’s legitimate security concerns and reiterating its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, the Association said meaningful dialogue remains an indispensable instrument for reducing tensions, preventing conflict and creating conditions conducive to enduring peace. National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami said the people of Jammu & Kashmir have borne the human, social and economic consequences of decades of conflict.

Khuehami welcomed the growing voices from across civil society, academia and public life advocating the resumption of dialogue and confidence-building measures between India and Pakistan.

The Association also welcomed the appeal by 100 prominent citizens from India and Pakistan for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan as the only viable path towards lasting peace.

It said his appeal was timely, thoughtful and reflected the wisdom and restraint that the present circumstances demand.

Association urged India and Pakistan urging both governments to revive bilateral dialogue, restore communication, strengthen confidence-building measures and normalise people-to-people exchanges. Such initiatives, it said, reflect a growing recognition that sustained diplomatic engagement remains the most effective pathway to reducing mistrust, preventing future crises and fostering regional stability.
