Jio bolsters network along Amarnath Yatra routes

Ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, Jio has significantly strengthened its telecom infrastructure along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes to ensure uninterrupted 4G and 5G connectivity for pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.

To meet the anticipated surge in mobile traffic during the Yatra, the company has expanded its network by deploying additional mobile towers, temporary cell sites, high-capacity microwave backhaul links, fibre connectivity and dedicated power backup systems.

The upgraded infrastructure is aimed at delivering high-speed data services and clear voice connectivity even in remote, high-altitude locations.

According to the company, the enhancements have been designed to maximise network availability and minimise congestion during the peak pilgrimage period. The infrastructure expansion was carried out in coordination with the administration and other government departments to provide seamless connectivity up to the Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine along both routes.

On the traditional Pahalgam route, advanced network sites have been installed at key locations, including Nunwan Base Camp, Chandanwari, Pissu Top, Zojibal, Sheshnag, Mahagunas, Poshpathri and Panchtarni.

Along the Baltal route, Jio has upgraded its existing infrastructure and deployed high-capacity portable **Cell on Wheels (COWs)** to manage the expected increase in data traffic. Continuous network coverage has been ensured at Baltal Base Camp, Domail, Railpathri, Brarimarg, Sangam Top, Lower Holy Cave and the Holy Amarnath Cave.

The company said the upgraded network will help pilgrims stay connected with their families while also providing reliable communication support to the authorities managing the annual pilgrimage.
