Supreme Court grants interim relief to Muslims in Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque dispute

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted limited interim relief to Muslims challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s May 15 judgment declaring the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Dhar as a Hindu temple, Bar & Bench reported.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant directed that Muslims be allowed to offer Friday prayers between 1 pm and 3 pm at an open space adjacent to the disputed site, clarifying that the arrangement would be purely ad hoc and subject to the final outcome of the case.

The Court also ordered that any alterations proposed by the Archaeological Survey of India pursuant to the High Court’s verdict shall not be implemented without its permission.

The matter has been directed to be listed before an appropriate Bench for further hearing.
