India reaffirms support for Palestine at donor meeting in Brussels

India on Monday reaffirmed its longstanding support for the Palestinian people and reiterated its commitment to a two-State solution and Palestine’s membership of the United Nations during the second Ministerial Meeting of the Palestine Donor Group (PDG) held in Brussels.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Secretary (CPV & OIA) Sripriya Ranganathan represented India at the meeting, jointly organised by the European Commission and the Palestinian Authority, with participation from European Union member states, Palestine, international partners and financial institutions.

Addressing the meeting, Ranganathan highlighted India’s continued developmental and humanitarian assistance to Palestine, saying India’s demand-driven projects are focused on healthcare, education, capacity building and vocational training. She also announced several new initiatives in rehabilitation, health, education and skill development.

During her visit to Brussels, the Secretary also attended a meeting hosted by the incoming Chair of the Advisory Commission of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), where she reaffirmed India’s continued support for the agency and its humanitarian work. The MEA said India remains committed to contributing meaningfully to addressing the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people.
