New Delhi, May 12: Responding to a question on China’s reported assistance to Pakistan during the four-day conflict last year, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen these reports that corroborate what was known earlier. Operation Sindoor was a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, aimed at destroying state sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan and at its behest. It is for nations who consider themselves responsible to reflect whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing.”
The remarks came after reports that China had, for the first time, acknowledged providing on-site technical support to Pakistan during the conflict.
According to media reports citing Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, engineer Zhang Heng from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China assisted Pakistan during the conflict involving Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets operated by the Pakistan Air Force. Chinese officials had earlier downplayed allegations of Beijing’s involvement during the conflict.
