PM Modi pays tribute to partition victims

New Delhi, Aug 14: Prime Minister NarendraModi on Friday paid tribute to those affected by the partition of India, saying their courage and resilience in rebuilding their lives after immense suffering demonstrated the strength of the human spirit.

Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, PM Modi said the partition “tore apart several lives”, with families uprooted, loved ones lost, and people forced to endure immense suffering.

“At the same time, overcoming this, people rebuilt their lives from nothing, turned adversity into achievement and contributed immensely to our nation’s progress. Their life journeys remind us of the strength of the human spirit,” he said in a series of posts on X.

The PM said the day should deepen the resolve to preserve harmony and brotherhood and collectively work towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

He also paid heartfelt tributes to those who, despite emerging from the horrors of partition, made valuable contributions to the country’s progress.

“Through their courage and capability, they showed how resolutions are accomplished even in adverse circumstances,” PM Modi said, calling for further strengthening of the national spirit of goodwill and solidarity.

Quoting a Subhashitam, he stressed the importance of hard work, enterprise, and persistent effort in achieving success.

The PM said human endeavour, rather than dependence on fate, shapes destiny and urged people to move towards their goals with courage and diligence.
