Banihal, Sep 19: Five BSF personnel were injured after a BSF truck travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu turned turtle on National Highway-44 near Chamba Seri in Ramban district on Saturday.
Soon after the accident, the injured personnel were evacuated from the spot and shifted to District Hospital Ramban with the assistance of Army, police and CRPF personnel, local residents, and fellow BSF personnel.
Hospital authorities said all five injured personnel were undergoing treatment. Four of them were stated to be out of danger, while the driver, Shamim Ahmed of Karnah, Kashmir, reportedly sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The injured have been identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Ramesh Lal, a resident of Jammu, aged 35; Parshtum Kumar, son of Paratem Chand, a resident of Jammu, aged 36; Chandan Yadhav, son of Ravender Yadhav, a resident of Bengal, aged 38; driver Shamim Ahmed, son of Abdul Qayoom, a resident of Karnah, Kashmir, aged 38; and Sub-Inspector Ghar Singh, son of Mela Ram, a resident of Jammu.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident, while further details regarding the cause of the accident are awaited.
