Srinagar, July 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir has postponed its proposed Secretariat Gherao March at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, which was scheduled to be held on July 20, in view of the flood situation in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
In a statement, the party said the decision was taken considering the devastation caused by heavy rains and flash floods in the twin border districts.
“The BJP Jammu & Kashmir protest (Secretariat Gherao March) at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, scheduled for July 20, 2026, has been postponed due to the flood situation in Rajouri and Poonch,” the party said.
It added that a fresh date for the protest march would be announced shortly.
The party had planned the march to press for its demands before the Jammu and Kashmir administration. However, the programme has been deferred in view of the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
