Srinagar, Sep 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said ₹3.21 crore in relief had been disbursed among families affected by flash floods and landslides in Rajouri, while a ₹185 crore proposal had been prepared for the permanent restoration of 403 damaged roads and bridges in the district.
Replying to a question in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session, Omar said 149 family-wise cases seeking relief under SDRF norms had been received in connection with damage caused by the recent flash floods and landslides in Rajouri constituency.
“An amount of 40 lakhs and 61,500 has been disbursed as relief to the affected families in Rajouri constituency in accordance with the prescribed SDRF norms,” he said.
He added that ₹2.81 crore had also been released to Rajouri district from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
“In addition, financial assistance amounting to 2.81 crore was released to district Rajouri from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for providing relief to the families affected by the flash floods and the damages caused thereby,” Omar said.
“The said financial assistance has been duly disbursed among the affected families in accordance with the approved norms,” he added.
On damage to roads and bridges, the chief minister said a preliminary assessment had been completed and a proposal for permanent restoration had been prepared.
“A preliminary assessment of damages to roads and bridges in district Rajouri has been made and a proposal for permanent restoration of 403 roads, bridges has been formed up at a cost of 185 crore,” he said.
The Power Development Department assessed damage of ₹27.99 crore to electrical infrastructure in Rajouri district following heavy rains and flash floods in July 2026. Of this, ₹9.39 crore was assessed for the Rajouri Assembly constituency.
Omar said temporary restoration of power had been carried out through the installation of an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower on the 132 KV double-circuit Rajouri-Draba transmission line.
“The site temporary restoration of power was carried out by the installation of ERS tower in the 132 KV DC Rajouri Draba transmission line,” he said. “Further, for permanent restoration of the 132 KV DC Rajouri Draba transmission line, the tendering is under progress.”
The government also assessed damage to crops in Rajouri constituency during the Kharif 2026 season through field-level verification.
According to the assessment placed before the House, maize was affected across 406 hectares, with 15% damage, while paddy damage was assessed at 65% across 101.5 hectares.
The government also submitted details of damage to municipal assets, PHE infrastructure, flood-control infrastructure and roads and buildings under the Housing and Urban Development, Jal Shakti and Public Works departments.
Separately, ₹1.25 crore was received under SDRF for temporary restoration of power supply in Rajouri district.
The constituency-wise allocation included ₹57.6 lakh for Rajouri, ₹43.4 lakh for Thanamandi and ₹10.5 lakh for Budhal.
