J&K lose both openers early after Vidarbha opt to field

Srinagar, Oct 18: Defending champions Jammu and Kashmir made several changes to their playing XI for their second Ranji Trophy Elite match against Vidarbha at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar on Sunday, with India pacer Umran Malik returning to the side.

Vidarbha won the toss and elected to field first, putting J&K in to bat.

J&K have left out Shubham Khajuria and Shubham Pundir, while Yawer Hassan, Kawalpreet Singh and wicketkeeper Rydham Sharma have been brought into the playing XI in place of Kanhaiya Wadhawan and other players.

The bowling attack has also been reshuffled, with Abid Mushtaq returning to strengthen the spin department and Umar Nazir coming in place of Auqib Nabi who is leaving for New Zealand. Umran’s inclusion adds pace to the J&K attack.

J&K, however, got off to a shaky start with both openers departing early. They were 40 for two at the time of reporting this report, leaving the middle order with the responsibility of rebuilding the innings.
