Union Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the polls will further strengthen democracy and usher in a new era of development for the region.
Amit Shah expressed his appreciation for the decision made by the Election Commission of India and emphasized the significant progress made by the Modi government in the last decade. He noted that through various initiatives, peace, development, and democratic values have been reinforced in Jammu and Kashmir. He also called on the people of the region to participate actively in the elections to help form a government that would foster long-lasting peace and progress, particularly for the youth.
BJP leaders including former Deputy CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Nirmal Singh, expressed their belief that development in the region would flourish under a double-engine government led by the BJP. He stated that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, who have suffered the most, would greatly benefit from this governance model. BJP leader Altaf Thakur, who also welcomed the announcement, stated that the BJP is poised to win over 50 seats and form the government.
Ravinder Raina, the BJP President of Jammu and Kashmir, also expressed confidence in the BJP’s success, stating that the party is fully prepared for the upcoming elections. He believes that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will support the BJP and that they will form their own government.
Ashish Sood, BJP co-incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, reinforced the party’s commitment to development, stating that the BJP is focused on the betterment of the people, aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the election announcement, calling it a positive step for democracy and development in the region.
The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting to take place on October 4. The election process will be significant as the region has not had assembly elections since 2014.
