Jammu, Jul 27: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Asif Jalal has taken over as new Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier.
Jalal replaced another senior IPS officer IG Shashank Anand, who took charge of strategically very crucial Jammu frontier in February, 2025.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhimsen Tuti, on Monday bid a warm farewell to outgoing IG, BSF Jammu frontier, Shashank Anand, on his transfer and extended a warm welcome to Asif Jalal, who has assumed charge as the new IG, BSF Jammu Frontier, responsible for guarding Jammu, Samba, Kathua districts and parts of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The function was attended by Maj Gen Ajit M Yeole, GOC, 26 Infantry Division; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Amol V Homkar, IG CRPF, Jammu sector; all Range DIGs of Jammu zone and senior officers of the BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, NIA, J&K Police and the civil administration, reflecting the enduring spirit of inter-agency coordination, mutual cooperation and collective commitment towards ensuring peace, security and effective border management in the Jammu region.
New IG BSF is an IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre of 2002 batch. He was appointed IG BSF in February 2022 and will remain on deputation with BSF till September, 2027.
