No power on earth can now give jobs to kin of terrorists in J&K: Lieutenant Governor

Jammu, Dec 11: Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha asserted on Thursday that the government has made a decisive policy shift, committing to provide employment exclusively to the families of terror victims while denying any relief to those linked with terrorism.

“Terror victims will get justice and jobs, and terrorists will get bullets,” the LG said while handing over appointment letters to 41 next of kin of terror victims of the Jammu division.

Referring to recent data presented in Parliament, the LG said, “Since the emergence of terrorism till 2019, 41,949 civilians had been killed. Terrorism, separatism and their ecosystem were responsible for these deaths.” “Justice will now reach the right people. Now, the kin of terror victims get jobs. No power on earth can give jobs to the kin of terrorists. I want to tell those who still wear coloured glasses that the period of terrorism is gone,” the LG said.

On the occasion, the LG narrated the story of Naseeb Singh and his family.

Naseeb Singh’s father Dharam Singh and four others from Kotranka in Rajouri district were killed by terrorists on June 28, 2005.

“For two decades, Naseeb Singh and his family were forced to live in misery, constant fear and insecurity. The dark days in their lives have ended. It is a new dawn of hope and dreams for the family,” Sinha said.

Contrasting the situation in J&K of today with that of the previous times, he said that earlier “jobs were given to a large number of people connected with terrorism and separatism”, but now, the situation has changed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

“People ruling the region earlier used to compromise for temporary peace. Under PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, an attempt was made to change that arrangement,” he added, asserting that justice will now reach the right people.

The LG also said that old cases will be reopened and the guilty, whether they are on this or that side of the border, will face punishment.

“Not only the current cases of terror victims, but even older cases will be reopened. Some have already been reopened. Whether terrorists are on this side of the border or the other side, they will face severe punishment for their heinous acts,” he said.

On the occasion, appointment letters were also handed over to 22 beneficiaries in age-relaxation cases and 19 wards of police martyrs under compassionate appointment rules and the rehabilitation assistance scheme.

Earlier, on July 28, the Lieutenant Governor handed over appointment letters to 94 next of kin of terror victims from the Jammu division.

Stakeholders call for biometric attendance in Higher Secondary schools to curb dummy admissions

Stakeholders call for biometric attendance in Higher Secondary schools to curb dummy admissions

Srinagar, Dec 11: With the culmination of the annual examination of the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) for secondary classes, stakeholders have expressed their concern over the bogus admissions in higher secondary schools.

The teachers revealed to Greater Kashmir that most of the students enroll themselves in the government higher secondary schools for class 11th and 12th while they remain physically present in the private coaching centres.

The teachers have demanded that biometric attendance should be made compulsory for the students enrolled in the senior secondary classes to curb the ongoing practice of the dummy admissions.

“As the class 10th JKBOSE exams are over, the students who opt for science stream enroll themselves in different coaching centres and never attend their schools,” the teachers said.

They said these students manage dummy admissions in schools, supported by the heads of the institutions to showcase the “Fake” pass percentage of the schools.

“The trend is going on for the last many years only to show the fake pass percentage in JKBOSE results. The department is aware of the fact but no action is being taken against the school heads to allow this practice,” the teachers told Greater Kashmir.

The teachers said that the majority of the students shift from private schools to government schools after qualifying their class 10th JKBOSE exams only to manage bogus admissions.

“In private schools, there is a proper check on absenteeism and students are not allowed to follow any such practice of managing dummy admissions. So they get admission in government higher secondary schools only to join private coaching,” they said.

The teachers said introducing biometric attendance in higher secondary classes of government schools can do away with this practice.

Earlier this year, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has tightened its noose against the high and higher secondary class students over skipping regular classes in schools.

A circular was issued to all school heads and made it mandatory to strictly maintain attendance records of students in classes 9th to 12th.

Citing the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, DSEK said that consistent classroom attendance was crucial to achieve the vision of competency-based learning, hands-on activities, peer engagement, and teacher-student interaction.

“National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) envisions education not merely as academic instruction but as a holistic journey nurturing students’ intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, creative expression, ethical awareness and social skills,” the DSEK circular said.

The DSEK said that a number of students of classes 11th and 12th were skipping regular classes and the trend was spreading to class 9th and 10th as well.

“This is a matter of serious concern as it will impact to achieve the objectives of student development as envisioned by NEP-2020,” it reads.

The Directorate stated that the regular school attendance was mandatory and the school curriculum was designed to provide comprehensive learning and “missing classes can create significant gaps in a student’s effective learning.”

The heads of the schools were asked to ensure strict enforcement of student attendance in all government and private recognised schools through VSK attendance Chatbot, Aadhaar based attendance.

The school principals were instructed to ensure that practical classes in science subjects are conducted regularly as these are crucial for hands-on learning.

The schools have been warned of strict action for non-compliance and may attract disciplinary action as warranted.

Despite the instructions from the department, there is a growing trend of dummy admissions in schools, raising questions on the accountability and implementation of the government instructions.

Aadhaar-based OTP for Tatkal bookings at reservation counters has also been introduced in a phased manner, now implemented in 211 trains (as of December 4). As a result, the confirmed Tatkal ticket availability time has increased in about 95 per cent of the 96 popular trains, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Lok Sabha in a written reply to a question.

The minister also informed that rigorous revalidation and verification of user accounts have been done.

“About 3.02 crore suspicious user IDs have been deactivated since January 2025. Anti-bot solutions such as AKAMAI are deployed to filter non-genuine users and ensure smooth booking for legitimate passengers,” he mentioned.

Complaints have also been filed on the National Cyber Crime Portal for suspiciously booked PNRs, the minister added.

Vaishnaw informed about the use of multiple protective layers such as network firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, application delivery controllers and web application firewalls, which safeguard the system against cyber threats.

The system is hosted in a dedicated, access-controlled data centre, secured through CCTV surveillance and end-to-end encryption. The data centre is certified under ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards.

“To further strengthen its cyber security posture, RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. provides comprehensive cyber threat intelligence services, including take-down services, threat monitoring, deep and dark web surveillance and digital risk protection. These services offer proactive and actionable insights into emerging cyber threats and enable improved incident response,” said the minister.

Regular security audits of the reservation system are also carried out by CERT-In-empanelled Information Security Audit Agencies.

Moreover, internet traffic related to the ticketing system is continuously monitored by CERT-In and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) to detect and prevent cyberattacks.

Tanvir Sadiq expresses concern, urges govt to investigate

Srinagar, Dec 11: MLA Zadibal and the JKNC’s Chief Spokesperson & Head of Communications, Tanvir Sadiq, on Thursday urged the government to investigate the reports about the presence of ‘carcinogenic’ residues in eggs.

“Deeply concerned by reports of nitrofuran and nitroimidazole residues being detected in eggs,  drugs that are strictly banned in food-producing animals because of their carcinogenic and toxic effects,” Tanvir wrote on X.

“This issue becomes even more serious because eggs are consumed heavily by children, senior citizens, and patients.” Sadiq said, adding that “Doctors often prescribe eggs as a primary source of protein, making this a direct public-health risk”. Sadiq stated.

Sadiq made the remarks in the backdrop of a lab report released by a YouTube channel that triggered nationwide panic after it claimed to have found traces of nitrofuran-derived compounds—substances prohibited in many countries due to their potential to damage DNA in laboratory settings—in eggs sold under the premium brand, Eggoz.

Notably, Eggoz, which markets its eggs as antibiotic-free, hygienic, and herbal-fed, quickly issued a statement asserting that its eggs remain “safe for consumption” and comply with FSSAI criteria. It also initiated additional third-party testing through a NABL-accredited laboratory as an “added reassurance.”

Tanvir Sadiq urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to “immediately investigate” the matter.

“I urge the Hon Health Minister @sakinaitoo Sahiba and Hon. Food and Supplies Minister @satishsharmajnk Ji and their Department of Food & Supplies and Food Safety authorities to immediately investigate, conduct residue testing across markets, trace the source, and take strict action against violators. For the safety of our people, there can be no compromise. This must be treated with utmost urgency.” He added.

Jammu, Dec 11: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that abrogation of Article 370 brought dynamic changes in Jammu and Kashmir, and added terrorists, separatists and their patrons are not given government jobs, instead they are being identified and given the harshest punishment for their deeds. He was speaking at a function where he handed over appointment letters to 41 Next of Kins (NoKs) of victims of terrorism in Jammu division.

Appointment letters were also handed over to 22 beneficiaries in Age relaxation cases and 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs under Compassionate Appointment Rules SRO-43 and Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS).

Earlier, on July 28,2025, the Lieutenant Governor had handed over the appointment letters to 94 Next of Kins (NoKs) of terror victims from Jammu division. The move brings relief to 135 terror victim families from Jammu Division who were denied justice for decades.

The families of terror victims spoke out fearlessly, recounted decades of terror and hardship and exposed the Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and their local sympathizers.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the civilian martyrs and shared the grief of the terror victim families.

“Terror victim families were left to struggle in silence for decades. Justice was denied to these families. The deep scars were never healed. Such families are now being recognized, respected and rehabilitated.

Jobs to real victims of terror and true martyrs reflect the commitment that the nation stands with them with concrete action,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that it is his commitment to restore the dignity and economic security to those families, who paid the highest price.

“Our mission is to bring about the change in the lives of those families who were deliberately deprived of justice so that they can contribute in society’s all-round progress and nation building.

With the government job appointment letters to 41 terror victim families, 22 age relaxation cases and 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs, we have fulfilled our commitment,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

After a 20-year wait for relief, the suffering of Naseeb Singh and his family is finally over. The Lieutenant Governor narrated the heartrending incident of June 28, 2005, when Naseeb Singh’s father Dharam Singh and four others from Kotranka, Rajouri, were brutally killed by terrorists. For two decades, Naseeb Singh and his family were forced to live in misery, constant fear and insecurity.  The dark days in their lives have ended. It is a new dawn of hope and dreams for the family, he said.

“Akhtar Hussain, a resident of Reasi, was shot dead by terrorists on July 13, 2005. His wife and children endured immense hardship for two decades. It had left a deep scar on the family.

On November 15, 2004, SPO Sanjeet Kumar was murdered along with his friend by two terrorists in Balan Tundwa, Kishtwar, while they were preparing for a neighbour’s wedding.

These families carried the weight of unspeakable grief. Now, this new beginning will allow them to rebuild their lives with dignity,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah we are dismantling the entire terror ecosystem.

“We have not bought peace, but established peace. The days of misgovernance are over. Now terrorists, separatists and their patrons are not given government jobs but they are being identified and given the harshest punishment for their deeds,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor stated that there are certain elements from the dying terror ecosystem who are attempting to spread misinformation or negative narratives against the country. He warned that stringent action will be taken against such elements according to the country’s established legal framework.

“Those who are fanning separatism and threatening national unity will face the action as per the law,” he said.
