Pak terrorists to get ‘goli ka jawab goley se’ if they attack India again: Amit Shah

Darbhanga/Motihari, Nov 04: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday warned Pakistan-sponsored terrorists to refrain from further attacking India, asserting that if they repeat the mistake, “goli ka jawab goley se diya jayega” (they will face cannons for bullets).

Explosives manufactured in Bihar’s proposed defence corridor will be used against these terrorists, he said.

“Terrorists from Pakistan attacked our citizens in Pahalgam. They wiped off Sindoor from the foreheads of our mothers and sisters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi avenged it by launching Operation Sindoor within 20 days. The Indian Army neutralised the terrorists on Pakistani land,” Shah said at a poll rally in Bihar.

He also said, “The PM is setting up a Defence Corridor in Bihar. If Pakistan-sponsored terrorists repeat their mistake, ‘goli ka jawab goley se diya jaega’ (they will face cannons for bullets).”

The cannons to be used against terrorists will be ‘made-in-Bihar’, he said.

“Unlike the previous Congress regime, the government under Modi’s leadership is committed to the safety and security of the nation,” he alleged.

Shah launched a blistering attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly “raising slogans in the praise of gangster-turned-politician late Mohammad Shahabuddin, who unleashed terror in Siwan during the RJD’s 15-year rule in Bihar”.

“Lalu and his party raise slogans like ‘Shahabuddin amar rahe’, dream of ‘jungle raj’ but Bihar people won’t allow these,” he said.

Addressing back-to-back rallies in Darbhanga, Motihari and Bettiah, Shah urged voters in Bihar to press the EVM button with the BJP’s poll symbol ‘lotus’ to prevent the return of ‘jungle raj’ during the RJD rule that had “devastated” the state.

He promised that if the NDA returns to power, the government will spend Rs 26,000 crore to harness the Koshi river water for irrigation and to prevent floods.

“Press ‘lotus’ button to prevent return of ‘jungle raj’ that devastated Bihar during Lalu-Rabri’s 15-year rule…Murders, loots, kidnappings, and extortion will be common in the state again if you make a mistake on the November 6 voting day,” the union minister alleged.

Shah claimed that the NDA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership could only lead Bihar to all-around development.

“Altogether, Rs 26,000 crore will be spent to harness the Koshi river water to irrigate ‘Mithilanchal’ and prevent floods in the area if the NDA is voted to power in Bihar…Water of the Ganga, Koshi and Gandak rivers will be utilised for irrigation and to prevent deluge in the state,” the former BJP president said.

If the NDA retains power in Bihar, people from Mithila, Koshi, and Tirhut will not be required to go to Patna or Delhi for treatment, as they will get quality medical facilities at AIIMS-Darbhanga, he said.

Shah claimed, “As many as 3.60 cr people have been covered with free health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh crore, while the IT park at Darbhanga will employ the youth.”

He slammed the RJD for its complaint to the Election Commission, seeking a pause on the Rs 10,000 benefit for ‘Jeevika Didis’, alleging that “three generations of Lalu won’t be able to snatch funds transferred” to the self-help groups.

Reiterating that the RJD-Congress insulted ‘Chhathi Maiya’, the prime minister and his mother, Shah said people of Bihar will “avenge the insult by showing the exit door to such political parties” in the upcoming elections.

“Bihar people never forgive those who insult ‘Chhathi Maiya’. The RJD-Congress will be wiped out in the Bihar polls,” Shah claimed.

If NDA retains power in Bihar, each district will get one engineering, one medical college in the next 5 years, he promised.

Asserting that real development could take place only under the Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi regimes, he said, “As many as 423 companies inked pacts for Rs 1.80 lakh crore investment in Bihar during the business summit. Approval for a new airport at Raxaul has been given, while an auditorium will be built at Motihari.”

He said the land of Champaran is linked to Goddess Sita and Lord Ram, and “we will boost religious tourism here”.

Shah announced from Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘karma bhoomi’ Champaran that Naxalism will be wiped out from the country on March 31, 2026.

Rs 35 lakh cash recovered as ACB traps Patwari in J&K’s Samba

Srinagar, Nov 04: Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (JKACB), Tuesday said to have registered a case FIR No. 19/2025 U/S 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against public servant, namely, Sunil Kumar, Patwari, Patwar Halqa Dadui, Tehsil & District Samba, for demanding and accepting illegal gratification from the complainant.

The said accused public servant, demanded the bribe amounting to Rs 1,00,000/- from the complainant, for preparing a report, sought by Tehsildar Samba on the application of complainant,  with respect to correction of Girdawari. However, after negotiation, the said Patwari has agreed to receive Rs 80,000/- instead of Rs 1,00,000/- from the complainant for doing the needful.  The complainant could manage Rs 20,000/- as bribe money from the agreed amount of Rs. 80,000/ for payment to the said Patwari. Since, the complainant didn’t want to pay bribe and approached Anti-Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the accused public servant under law, a spokesman said in a statement.

ACB registers FIR in illegal petrol pump construction in Budgam

Srinagar, Nov 04: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (JKACB) on Tuesday registered a case under FIR No. 21/2025 at Police Station, ACB Srinagar following a verification conducted on the basis of a complaint received from inhabitants of village Arigam, Budgam.

An official said that the verification revealed that one individual, Ali Mohammad Khan, S/o Sonaullah Khan, R/o Arigam Budgam, had constructed a petrol pump on Kahcharaie land at Arigam in June 2020, on the basis of a license issued by the competent authority on manipulated and misleading facts.

He said the investigations disclosed that during 2018, NOCs were issued by the then Patwari Arigam, Naib Tehsildar Arigam, and Tehsildar Khansahab for proprietary land under Survey Nos. 531 and 533 Min. However, these officers deliberately omitted to record that access to the said land was only through State/Kahcharaie land (Survey No. 535) and failed to mention that the land was separated from the main road by Kahcharaie land prone to encroachment.

Further, it surfaced that the concerned Patwari concealed the existence of Survey No. 532 (Shamilat land) while preparing the Khaka Dasti, thereby misrepresenting the factual position of the site. Despite a clarification sought by the ADC Budgam in March 2018, the field staff falsely reported that the site was feasible for transportation and storage of fuel. On the basis of these misleading NOCs and reports, the then Deputy Commissioner Budgam issued a Petrol Pump license (No. DCB/2020/10 dated 22.05.2020) in favour of the beneficiary on Survey Nos. 531 and 533, which were not adjacent to each other. The then SDM Khansahab also forwarded the reports to higher authorities without conducting an independent spot verification or record scrutiny, official said.

In this manner, the concerned revenue officers and officials, by abuse of their official positions and in criminal conspiracy with the beneficiary, facilitated encroachment on State land and conferred undue pecuniary benefit upon the said individual.

Accordingly, offences under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) and Section 120-B of IPC have been established against the accused public servants and beneficiaries. Consequently, Case FIR No. 21/2025 has been registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar, official said and added, that further investigation of the case has been taken up.

Accredited Journalists welcome UT admin’s move to curb misuse of media identity

Srinagar, Nov 04: Jammu and Kashmir Accredited Journalists Association (JAKAJA) today welcomed the decision of the Union Territory administration to curb the misuse of media identity and strengthen the credibility of journalism.

In a statement, Ashwani Kumar, President, The Jammu and Kashmir Accredited Journalists Association (JKAJA) appreciated the recent circular issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kashmir Division, aimed at curbing the growing menace of unverified individuals posing as journalists and misusing the name of media for blackmail, extortion, and defamation.

Earlier, the issue of “fake journalists” was discussed during a recent high-level review meeting in Srinagar.

During the meeting, the government directed all Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to take concrete steps to identify such elements and weed them out from the system.

The issue of the mushrooming of fake journalists was also highlighted during the recent Assembly session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Ashwani Kumar also observed that this timely and necessary directive reflects the government’s seriousness in addressing a long-pending issue raised by genuine members of the media fraternity. The presence of unscrupulous elements operating without accreditation or authorisation has not only tarnished the image of responsible journalism but has also endangered the credibility and safety of genuine journalists in the field.

He further said that the measures outlined in the circular—such as maintaining a verified list of accredited and bona fide working journalists, restricting official communication to recognized media persons, and taking coordinated legal action against impostors—are practical steps that will help restore public confidence in the media profession.

The association also welcomed the call for due diligence by editors and owners of media houses in engaging correspondents, freelancers, and stringers. It urged all media organisations to strictly adhere to the ethical standards prescribed by the Press Council of India and the DIPR accreditation guidelines.

The Association reiterated its commitment to promoting ethical journalism and will fully cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in implementing the safeguards mentioned in the circular. This initiative will go a long way in protecting the integrity of journalism and ensuring that the voice of the media remains credible, responsible, and accountable, it said.

Zohran Mamdani likely to win despite Trump’s attacks

Zohran Mamdani likely to win despite Trump’s attacks

New Delhi, Nov 04: Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old state assembly member from Queens, is on the verge of making history. The Ugandan-born, Indian-origin politician is leading the race to become New York City’s first Muslim mayor, despite facing sharp criticism from President Donald Trump. Mamdani, a Democrat and self-described democratic socialist, was born in Uganda to well-known parents, his mother Mira Nair, a well known face and name in India and abroad, the acclaimed Indian filmmaker behind Monsoon Wedding and Salaam Bombay!, and his father Mahmood Mamdani, a respected academic. The family moved to New York when Zohran was seven.

In June, Mamdani scored a surprise victory over former governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary. Cuomo is now running as an independent, while Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, is far behind in the polls.

Recent surveys show Mamdani clearly ahead of both rivals as New Yorkers vote on Tuesday. His campaign has focused on bold social reforms including free city buses, rent freezes, and universal childcare aimed at making life easier for working families.

But his rise has drawn fire from President Trump, who on Monday night urged voters to support Cuomo instead. “Whether you like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Mamdani is not capable of it!” International media reported thar Trump went further, warning that he would give New York only “the very minimum” in federal funding if Mamdani becomes mayor. The president even called Mamdani a “communist”, a label the candidate rejects. “I’ll treat that for what it is, a threat, not the law,” Mamdani said in response.

While in New York and most of the analysts say that Trump’s comments have only strengthened Mamdani, the young politician’s chances to win by margin. They see him as part of a new generation of leaders reshaping America’s cities with ideas focused on equity, diversity, and opportunity. Known for his approachable style, Mamdani often mixes languages, English, Urdu, and Spanish, in campaign messages and has even used Bollywood clips in his videos. He carries on his sleeves, his culture and religion and feel proud of it. Married to Rama Duwaji, a Syrian artist living in Brooklyn, he represents the multicultural face of modern New York.

If Mamdani wins, he will not only be the city’s first Muslim and Indian-origin mayor but also its youngest in more than a century. For many New Yorkers, his rise from community organiser to front-runner shows how far the city and American politics have come. As the polls open, New Yorkers face a clear choice between three sharply different candidates. But all eyes are on Zohran Mamdani, the progressive lawmaker whose message of inclusion and change may soon make him the new face of America’s largest city.

Sikh devotees depart for Nankana Sahib in Pakistan to celebrate Guru Nanak’s Prakash Parv

Sikh devotees depart for Nankana Sahib in Pakistan to celebrate Guru Nanak’s Prakash Parv

Amritsar, Nov 04: A devoted contingent of Sikh pilgrims departed from Amritsar for Pakistan on Tuesday under the banner of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to participate in the sacred celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Parv. The group will take part in religious ceremonies at Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak, and other historic Gurdwaras across Pakistan.

On this occasion, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj of Akal Takht Sahib accompanied the group, offering prayers for a successful and spiritually fulfilling journey.

Speaking to the media before the departure, Jathedar Gadgaj noted that although the government had issued visas to the devotees, the Kartarpur Sahib Langar was still not fully open. He emphasised that the Kartarpur corridor is not merely a route for pilgrimage but “a bridge that connects hearts”.

He further added that he believed the government would soon fulfil the long-standing demand to reopen the corridor completely.

He further explained that Guru Nanak spent his final years in Kartarpur Sahib, making it a place of immense spiritual importance for the Sikh community.

“It is the natural wish of every Sikh to bow their head at this sacred shrine without obstacles,” he said.

He also suggested that in the future, devotees should be allowed entry through Aadhaar-based identification, instead of passports, to make the pilgrimage more accessible.

Delivering a spiritual message on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s Prakash Parv, Jathedar Gadgaj reminded the Sangat of the Guru’s three golden principles: Kirat Karo (earn honestly), Naam Japo (meditate on God’s name), and Vand Chhako (share with others).

“These teachings form the foundation of Guru’s Langar, which continues to inspire equality, service, and unity in society,” he said.

He further prayed for global peace, harmony, and the early release of Sikh prisoners. Extending heartfelt greetings to the Sangat, he urged everyone to live by the Guru’s teachings, saying, “Those who walk on the path of truth and righteousness are the true heirs of Guru Nanak’s legacy.”

One devotee said, “I am overjoyed to visit Pakistan for the first time. It feels like a dream to be part of this sacred journey.”

GST rate cuts offset US tariff impacts to drive manufacturing growth

GST rate cuts offset US tariff impacts to drive manufacturing growth

New Delhi, Nov 04: GST rate cuts have led to retail price reductions and increased household spending, which have offset the tariff-related impact on India’s exports, a report said on Tuesday.

“Overall manufacturing output continued to rise, with the fall in new export orders fully offset by a rise in domestic orders. A spurt in input purchases suggests that manufacturing could remain strong in November too,” the report from HSBC Global Investment Research noted.

Based on pick-up in agriculture, manufacturing, construction, growth for Q3 CY25 is tracking 7.2-7.4 per cent, the firm said.

The overall exports remained steady in spite of a dip in exports to United States due to tariff-related concerns, the report said.

The research house, however, maintained that growth may see some softness in the second half of the current fiscal year due to fiscal consolidation pressures.

GST rates were reduced for around 375 items on September 22, the report said, adding that government tracking indicates that companies lowered prices by more than what was warranted by GST rate cuts for about half of the items monitored.

Pranjul Bhandari, Chief India Economist/Strategist, ASEAN Economist said that increased demand for durable goods, a significant rise in vehicle sales, and heightened e-commerce activity is notable. Further, bank credit growth rose for industries and services, including electronic manufacturing and retail trade, she mentioned.

Bhandari said that in spite of exports to the United States declining 12 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in September, following a 25 per cent increase in the first half of the year, the overall exports remained steady.

The slump in exports to US was driven by weakness in jewellery, crustaceans, and textiles, the report noted. Meanwhile, the overall exports remained steady, driven by stronger shipments to non-US markets, strong US-exports in exempted categories like electronics and petroleum, and continued strength in high-tech exports such as services, it said.

The firm said that its growth data indicators show that activity picked up further in September, led by a pick-up in agriculture, manufacturing, construction and financial services, it noted.
