Body of 11-year-old retrieved from Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal after two-day search

Kangan, Aug 24: The body of an 11- year-old boy was retrieved from Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal following an intensive two-day joint search and rescue operation. 

The deceased has been identified as Mohsin Ahmad a resident of Bamloora area of Ganderbal.  

The incident occurred when Mohsin reportedly slipped and was swept away by fast-flowing currents while taking a bath in Nallah Sindh near Qamaria park Ganderbal on Sunday. Alarmed onlookers immediately alerted local authorities after he failed to surface. 

Personnel from the Ganderbal Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) units from Ganderbal and Gund, Army , F&ES and local residents immediately mobilized a multi-agency search effort downstream. The search operation continued for 2nd day today and the body has been retrieved from water. 

Officials said after necessary medico-legal formalities the body will be handed over to the family for last rites. Local police have registered a case regarding the incident. 

Local administration officials have issued repeated advisories urging youth and tourists to exercise extreme caution near fast-flowing water bodies like Nallah Sindh, especially during summer months when water levels and currents remain unpredictable.
