Dilapidated Sunjwan–Barmeni road leaves residents seeking urgent repairs

The 2.5–3 km road connecting Sunjwan with Barmeni has been reduced to a deplorable condition, causing serious inconvenience to residents of the area.

Locals said the road is riddled with potholes, damaged stretches and waterlogging, making commuting particularly difficult after rainfall. They claimed that several two-wheeler accidents have occurred due to skidding, while vehicles frequently get stuck in deep potholes.

Residents also pointed out the absence of regular mini-bus services, forcing people to depend on autos, which often struggle to navigate the damaged road. School vans carrying children reportedly become stuck at several points, forcing students to walk home.

Locals said blocked drains further aggravate the problem as rainwater enters residential areas and damages the road. Shopkeepers complained that vehicles passing through waterlogged potholes splash dirty water into shops and onto pedestrians.

Residents said they have been filling potholes with soil on their own as a temporary measure, but stressed that a permanent solution is urgently required. They urged the authorities to repair the road and improve the drainage system, particularly as a paramedical institute and police training centre are located nearby.
