A delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir Chapter, attended the inaugural ceremony of the first International Film Festival of J&K (IFFJK) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
The delegation, led by PHDCCI Kashmir Chapter Chairman A.P. Vicky Shaw, included Executive Member and cinematographer Faisal Simon and Deputy Director Iqbal Fayaz Jan.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the four-day festival, which features more than 130 films from over 30 countries, marking a significant step towards positioning J&K on the global cinematic and creative landscape.
The Chief Minister said the festival reflected J&K’s ambition to emerge as a destination for filmmakers, storytellers and creative professionals from across the world.
Commending the initiative, the PHDCCI delegation said the festival could contribute significantly to tourism promotion, local employment generation and the growth of the region’s creative economy. It also provides artisans, entrepreneurs and local businesses an opportunity to gain greater national and international visibility.
The delegation said initiatives of this scale could help strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a destination for creativity, tourism and enterprise while creating new avenues for collaboration between the creative and business sectors.
The four-day festival is expected to bring together filmmakers, artists, industry professionals and audiences, further enhancing J&K’s profile as an emerging destination for film and creative industries.
