Govt orders probe into SMHS OT closure, report to be submitted in 15 days

Srinagar, Aug 03: The government has ordered an inquiry into allegations against the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Pulwama, who also holds additional charge of DMO Kulgam.

According to an order issued by the Department of Mining, Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad, Joint Director, Geology & Mining, has been appointed as the inquiry officer.

He has been directed to submit the report along with recommendations within 15 days.

The action follows a formal complaint filed by CPI(M) leader and Kulgam MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, regarding illegal mining activities.

Notably, the complaint was submitted on May 29 and appears to have prompted the government’s response. (KNC)
