Residents of Rengpath in Qaziabad area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have voiced serious concern over the deteriorating condition of a local health centre.
According to the residents, the health centre is lying in a dilapidated condition for years, severely affecting basic healthcare access.
According to locals, the unsafe condition of the building has forced authorities to shift medical staff to a private house, leading to inconvenience for patients and hampering smooth delivery of health services.
The absence of a proper facility has added to the hardships of residents, particularly the elderly and those in need of regular medical attention.
Former Sarpanch of the village, Salam Din Seer said the issue was repeatedly taken up with the higher authorities over the past decade, but no concrete action has been taken so far.
He said that the structure poses a risk to public safety and demanded immediate intervention.
He urged the administration, including Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant, to either undertake urgent renovation of the building or take alternative measures to prevent any untoward incident.
Locals have appealed to the concerned departments to act without further delay and ensure restoration of proper healthcare infrastructure in the area.
