Langate, Apr 20: Forest Protection Force (FPF) K10 Langate, Territorial Forest Officials and Police in a joint operation Sunday late evening seized two private vehicles laden with illicit timber in Shanoo Mawer area of Handwara.
An official told Greater Kashmir that following a specific tip off, a joint naka was laid which led to the seizure of two vehicles laden with illicit deodar timber.
“During routine checking, two vehicles an Eeco (JK09C-0590) and an Alto (JK05J-4492) were intercepted and their upon inspection, both were found loaded with illegally deodar sawn timber.
In total, 25 pieces of timber, measuring approximately 40.91 cubic feet, were recovered on the spot,” he said.
The timber along with both vehicles have been seized and shifted to Divisional Forest Office Langate.
Further investigation has been set into motion to trace the source, ownership, and intended destination of the timber, and to identify others involved in the illegal activity.
