India takes anti-terror message to Capitol Hill

Held at the Cannon Caucus Room on April 22, the exhibition marked the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack in J&K, in which 26 civilians were killed.

The exhibition also served as a solemn commemoration of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack in J&K, where 26 civilians lost their lives.

The tragedy, which sent shockwaves across India and beyond, was remembered through personal stories, visual documentation, and survivor accounts, underlining the enduring human cost of terrorism and the need for sustained global action against terrorism.

The exhibition saw the participation of 19 Members of the US Congress cutting across party lines, along with representatives from more than 60 Congressional offices.

Attendees included lawmakers and staff from key committees, including Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, Armed Services, Judiciary, and Homeland Security, highlighting the strategic importance of counterterrorism cooperation.

Senior officials from the US administration, members of the Indian diaspora, students, media, and policy think tanks were also present in large numbers, making it one of the most well-attended Indian diplomatic events on Capitol Hill in recent years. Through interactive displays, video installations, and personal testimonies, the exhibition highlighted the devastating and long-term impact of terrorism on victims, families, and communities.

It served both as a tribute to those who lost their lives and as a platform to reinforce international resolve against terrorism.

India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, reiterated New Delhi’s uncompromising stance on terrorism.

Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “India will never bow to any form of terror.”

Members of Congress present at the event expressed strong solidarity with India and emphasised their commitment to deepening the India-US partnership in counterterrorism efforts, signalling continued bipartisan support for closer strategic cooperation.
