India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ (NSA) Meeting on June 22 and 23 under its chairship, bringing together top security officials from member countries to deliberate on emerging global security challenges.
The meeting will be chaired by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and is expected to focus on the theme, “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today.”
According to an official statement, the National Security Advisers and heads of delegation from BRICS member nations will exchange views on the rapidly evolving nature of security threats and examine the impact of new and emerging technologies on national and international security.
The discussions will also cover challenges posed by technological advancements, including their potential misuse in creating new security risks and vulnerabilities.
During the two-day meeting, delegates will review the outcomes of the recently concluded BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
The gathering is expected to provide an important platform for enhancing cooperation among BRICS countries on security-related issues and strengthening collective responses to emerging global threats.
The BRICS grouping currently comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and its expanded membership, and serves as a key forum for political, economic and security cooperation among major emerging economies.
