Shopian, Jun 4: In a major push toward youth empowerment, physical fitness and holistic wellness, extensive educational and sports initiatives were conducted across multiple zones of Shopian district on Thursday
The events showcased a vibrant blend of competitive inter-school sports tournaments for youth alongside powerful drug-awareness and wellness campaigns.
With an aim to foster athletic talent and teamwork, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), as per an official statement, organised several zone-level competitions across various venues drawing extensive participation.
Parallel to the sports events, a robust health and wellness drive was spearheaded by the Department of AyushShopian to cultivate mental well-being and a healthier lifestyle among citizens. A special yoga and awareness session was held at Govt High school Reshnagri.
Extending its impact beyond schools, the Department of Ayush also conducted targeted awareness sessions for patients visiting its healthcare facilities, alongside separate therapeutic yoga sessions.
Adding to the district-wide momentum, Government Degree College (GDC) Zainapora also conducted awareness activities, cementing the academic community’s active role in the overall development of the local youth.
