New Delhi, May 11: Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi was today released by the Iranian authorities on bail following growing alarm over her health. She was transferred to Tehran for medical treatment from a hospital in Zanjan province where she was hospitalized ten days back
She has been shifted to a hospital in Tehran “to be treated by her own medical team”.
Her supporters had last week warned that Mohammadi, who won the 2023 prize in recognition of her decades of campaigning for human rights in Iran, was at risk of dying in prison after suffering two suspected heart attacks behind bars in Zanjan.
Her Iranian lawyer Mostafa Nili confirmed she had been transferred to Tehran following an order halting her sentence for medical treatment”.
