Kathua, Oct 8: The District Magistrate (DM) Kathua has ordered mandatory verification of all labourers and workers engaged by contractors and sub-contractors in the district.
The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, will come into force with immediate effect.
As per an order issued by the DM Kathua, no contractor or sub-contractor will be allowed to engage any labourer without prior verification of their identity and antecedents by the concerned Police authorities.
Contractors have been directed to maintain complete records of all workers, including their name, address, mobile number and identity document details.
Details of workers must be submitted to the concerned police station for verification before their engagement. New workers will not be permitted to commence work until the required police verification or clearance is completed.
Government departments, agencies and local bodies have also been directed to ensure compliance with the order. DM Kathua said the move was aimed at strengthening public safety and security and ensuring proper identification of workers in the district.
