Banihal, Jul 23: A massive boulder rolled down a hillside and struck a vehicle on the Bagwah–Deesa road in Doda district on Thursday, causing extensive damage to Mahindra pickup vehicle and triggering panic among commuters.
The impact completely crushed the vehicle. Officials said no injuries or loss of life have been reported in the incident.
The incident comes amid continuous rainfall across Doda and the Chenab Valley, which has triggered landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at several vulnerable locations, disrupting normal life and posing a threat to commuters.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, while efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore normal movement on the Bagwah- Dessa road.
Commuters have been advised to remain cautious while travelling through landslide-prone stretches until weather conditions improve.
