Srinagar, June 23: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq today expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic demise of Mrs. Shamima Makhdoomi, wife of Ghulam Nabi Makhdoomi, a resident of Naid Kadal, Srinagar, who lost her life yesterday after reportedly coming into contact with an electrified electric pole during heavy rainfall in the area.
Mirwaiz in a statement issued expressed serious concern over the incident. He said that such avoidable tragedies point to negligence and lack of accountability on the part of the concerned authorities and departments. He urged them to take immediate and effective precautionary measures to ensure public safety, protect human lives and property, and prevent the recurrence of such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
Mirwaiz paid tribute to the deceased and conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the members of the Makhdoomi family, particularly to her close relative Syed Owais Mehraj Shah. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed soul maghfirah and Jannat-ul-Firdous, and to bless the bereaved family with patience, strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
