New Delhi, Aug 03: National Conference senior leader and Member of Parliament Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan attended a meeting of INDIA Bloc leaders held in the Chamber of Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, in New Delhi today.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was also present during the meeting, where leaders deliberated on key parliamentary and national issues and discussed the joint strategy of the INDIA Bloc for the ongoing session of Parliament.
During the meeting, MP Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan extended a cordial invitation to the leaders of the INDIA Bloc to join a peaceful protest at Makar Dwar on 5th August against the unilateral decisions taken by the Central Government concerning Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the alliance partners to stand in solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and support the demand for the restoration of its full statehood.
He reminded the leaders that the Government of India has repeatedly assured, on the floor of Parliament, that statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would be restored, a commitment that remains unfulfilled.
The leaders of the INDIA Bloc including Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, TMC, CPI, AAP and others expressed their solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, appreciated the concerns raised by MP Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan, and conveyed their willingness to participate in the peaceful protest on 5th August in front of the Parliament. They reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding constitutional values, democratic rights and supporting the legitimate demand for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
