Srinagar, Jul 23: National Conference Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan on Thursday expressed solidarity with students protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak, demanding compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide and reiterating the party’s demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
In a statement, Chowdry Ramzan said the entire nation, particularly the opposition stands with the youth who have been seeking justice and accountability over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. He said the controversy has shaken the confidence of students and their families in the country’s examination system.
Expressing support for the “CJP”, Ramzan said its members have been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar for more than 20 days, demanding justice for students affected by the alleged paper leak. He said the National Conference stands firmly with their demands.
Ramzan reiterated that the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign, taking moral responsibility for the alleged lapses. He also demanded that the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the controversy be provided adequate compensation and all possible support.
Condemning the reported use of force against the protesters, Ramzan termed the police action unacceptable and sought strict action against the personnel allegedly involved in assaulting the demonstrators. He said peaceful protests are a democratic right and should not be met with force.
He urged the Union Government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged paper leak, fix responsibility for those involved and take concrete measures to restore the confidence of students and parents in the examination process.
