Srinagar, May 21: Government authorities placed Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq under house arrest late Wednesday evening ahead of Fatiha Khwani at Martyrs Graveyard Eid Gah in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Manzil-Office of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir said in a statement on Thursday.
The access to the Mazare Shuhada, Eidgah has also been restricted by the authorities since yesterday, the statement said.
In a post on X, Mirwaiz Manzil-Office of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir said, “Ahead of Fatiha Khwani at Martyrs Graveyard Eid Gah, Srinagar, @MirwaizKashmir
Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest late last evening, while access to the Mazare Shuhada, Eidgah has also been restricted by the authorities since yesterday as well.”
