PM Modi inaugurates RBI data centre, cyber security institute in Bhubaneswar

New Delhi, Oct 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Data Centre and Cyber Security Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, highlighting the need to strengthen digital banking infrastructure and protect the financial system against cyber threats.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the new facilities would help make banking more secure and efficient as India’s economy expands. He stressed that cyber threats could no longer be tackled with outdated systems and called for modern infrastructure and skilled personnel.

The Prime Minister said nearly 59-60 crore Jan Dhan accounts had brought people into the banking system, while schemes such as Mudra, PM SVANidhi and PM Vishwakarma had expanded access to formal credit for small entrepreneurs, street vendors and traditional artisans.

He said the government’s focus was now shifting from bringing banking services to people who had been excluded to making the system more reliable and efficient.

PM Modi also highlighted the expansion of social security through pension and insurance schemes, saying these had extended financial protection to poor and middle-class families.

Describing eastern India as an emerging growth engine, he said Odisha was developing beyond its traditional mineral-based industries, with new opportunities in semiconductors, electronics, data centres and advanced computing.

The Prime Minister said these developments would create fresh investment opportunities and open new avenues for the state’s youth.
