The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) Teachers Forum on Thursday declared three senior office-bearers elected unopposed after scrutiny of nomination papers for the organisation’s UT-level elections.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Handwara by Election Commissioner Ghulam Mohammad Dar.
Dar said September 9 was the last date for filing nominations, while scrutiny was completed on September 10.
He said elections for the posts of Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman and General Secretary were scheduled for September 20. However, only one nomination was received for each post and none of the candidates withdrew, leaving all three posts uncontested.
Jahangir Alam Khan was elected Chairman, Zahoor Ud Din Beigh Senior Vice Chairman, and Khalid Rafiq Bhat General Secretary of the J&K Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum.
Dar said the candidates had the unanimous support of all district presidents and UT executive members of the Forum, making polling unnecessary.
He congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and expressed hope they would work for the unity, welfare and legitimate interests of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers across Jammu and Kashmir.
