Srinagar, Apr 27: Following last week’s severe weather events, including cloudbursts, heavy rains, hailstorms, and windstorms across several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs has mobilised urgent relief operations with support from HCL Foundation.
A statement said that Ramban district has been among the worst-affected areas, with reported casualties and extensive damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure. The key Jammu-Srinagar highway remains closed today, further complicating relief efforts. In response to the crisis, She Hope Society is providing comprehensive aid packages including food kits, hygiene supplies, blankets, and baby nutrition to affected families.
The organisation has also established kitchen services at NHPC quarters where displaced residents have been relocated, providing meals to both disaster victims and travellers stranded due to the highway closure.
Beyond immediate relief, She Hope Society is conducting awareness programmes focusing on menstrual health, breastfeeding, and sanitation practices. The organisation has announced plans to distribute 200 food kits, 200 hygiene kits, and 200 blankets while maintaining meal services in the coming days.
