Health and Medical Education Department has terminated the services of Dr Mohammad Himayun, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina.
The termination will come into effect, retrospectively, from March 1, 2017. The termination has been ordered through Government Order No. 673-JK(HME) of 2026 issued today.
According to the order, Dr Himayun had been suspended in 2015 due to his unauthorised absence. He was subsequently reinstated in December 2016, but attended duties for “only six days in January 2017” and “three days in February 2017”. He remained absent without authorisation from March 1, 2017.
The departmental inquiry subsequently reported that his absence was deliberate and wilful. The order also states that a writ petition filed by the officer before High Court was dismissed. The department said a show-cause notice had already been served upon him before the termination.
