Sopore residents demand upgrading road and drainage infrastructure

According to the residents, the main road passing through the locality has remained in a severely dilapidated condition for years.

The residents alleged that despite repeated requests to Municipal Council Sopore, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and other concerned authorities over the past three decades, their grievances have failed to receive the attention.

“We have approached every concerned department time and again, but our repeated pleas have yielded no tangible results. Even today, we continue to live without basic civic amenities,” the residents said.

The residents further added that the absence of a functional drainage system has affected the school going children the most, results in stagnant water accumulating across the locality creating unhygienic conditions and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.

Appealing for urgent intervention, the residents urged the District Administration Baramulla, the Municipal Council Sopore and the R&B Department to immediately undertake the construction of the road and establish a proper drainage system in the locality.
