Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Anuj Kumar on Sunday conducted an extensive review of security arrangements in the Bari Brahmana area to assess the readiness of police for the smooth and secure conduct of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 (SANJY-2026).
Additional SP Samba, SDPO Bari Brahmana and SHO Bari Brahmana accompanied the SSP Samba, during the visit.
A Police spokesperson said that the SSP inspected various lodgement centres designated for accommodating pilgrims, including the Animal Husbandry Training Centre, Data Talab Birpur and Dr B R Ambedkar Bhawan Bari Brahmana.
He thoroughly reviewed the security deployment and operational preparedness of the police personnel posted at these locations. SSP Kumar assessed the security measures put in place for ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims during their stay throughout the yatra period.
He also inspected the availability of essential amenities and infrastructure facilities at the lodgement centres and issued necessary directions for ensuring adequate arrangements well before the commencement of the yatra.
During the review, special emphasis was laid on strengthening security arrangements at all National Highway (NHW) nakas falling within the district.
The SSP directed officers to maintain strict vigilance and effective checking mechanisms to facilitate the safe, secure and smooth movement of yatris and vehicles associated with the pilgrimage.
He also inspected accommodation sites earmarked for the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The spokesperson said that during his visit, SSP Anuj Kumar held a detailed interaction with CAPF personnel and reviewed their preparedness for the forthcoming yatra.
He briefed them regarding their roles, responsibilities, and operational duties during the pilgrimage and stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism, alertness, discipline and coordination while discharging security duties.
Reiterating the commitment of District Police Samba towards ensuring a safe, secure and peaceful pilgrimage, SSP Samba stressed the need for robust security arrangements, seamless coordination among all stakeholders and constant alertness throughout the yatra period.
