Srinagar, Mar 10: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Jammu and Kashmir Police seized 02 vehicles (01 Tipper & 01 Tractor) carrying illegally extracted construction minor minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Kangan & PP Nagbal.
As per statement, the vehicles were intercepted by police teams during routine patrolling and checking. Upon inspection, the vehicles were found transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, both vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources.
Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices, police statement added.
