Dangerpora, Apr 19: The Youth Services and Sports Department, Zone Dangerpora, on Saturday organised a Girls Chess Competition for under-14 and under-17 students, drawing participation from several schools across the zone.
The competition, as per a statement, saw impressive displays of strategic thinking, focus, and mental agility as the young participants battled it out on the chessboard. The vibrant atmosphere reflected the students’ passion and dedication to the game.
Addressing the gathering, Hassan Sahib, Convener of Chess, emphasised the significance of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals. He encouraged students to remain actively engaged in such activities for their overall development and urged officials to uphold the values of fairness and transparency in all competitions.
Vice Principal Masrat Ji also addressed the participants, sharing her personal experience as a sportsperson. She underlined the importance of sports in maintaining a stress-free and healthy lifestyle and especially encouraged girl students to take an active part in sports for empowerment and confidence-building.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were felicitated for their outstanding performances. The Youth Services and Sports Department extended heartfelt thanks to all participating schools, the Principal of Higher Secondary Batingo, officials, and NYC volunteers for their support in making the event a grand success.
